After 2 awesome years of Maloof Money Cup events hosted in Kimberley the department of Economic Development and Tourism will now be presenting a new international skateboarding championship following the termination of the agreement with Maloof Skateboarding. Kimberley Diamond Cup will be the name of the new mega international skateboarding event to be staged in the city from 27-29 September 2013, with prelim events like AM vert comp and Women’s street finals on Thursday 26 of September.
The pro vert lineup for the 2013 Kimberley Diamond Cup was announced and will feature the best professional street and vert skateboarders from around the world. Leading the list of pro vert skaters competing this year includes Pierre Luc Gagnon (PLG), Elliot Sloan, Mitchie Brusco, Andy MacDonald, Ronaldo Gomes, Jimmy Wilkins, Marcelo Bastos, Jono Schwan and Adam Taylor.
KDC will also incorporate the first national-scale Amateur Vert contest. The aim is to bring SA’s best vert skaters to Kimberley on 26th September for a shot at cash prizes and the KDC SA Vert Am title and the title of top vert skater in South Africa. The comp starts at 14:00 and will be open to all South African vert skater. The AM comp will be judged by the international pro vert skaters.

Over the weekend of the 29-31st March we will be hosting the boys from Durban for a Gauteng Skate Park and Street spot road trip.
Organized in conjunction with Bruce ( Bay O Plenty Skatez ). This is not a comp but just a fun weekend and a opportunity for Skaters to meet up with the guys from KZN and rip the parks.
We are planning to skate Thrashers Pretoria, Revolution Kempton Park, The Vert Ramp in Midrand, Stone Ridge, Alexandra, and Brightwater Commons.
We will keep you updated as to where the crew will be on what days and what time over the weekend.
The visiting crew are in no particular order Bruce (Bay O Plenty Skatez) Raymond (Big Daddy) Wittstock and his son David, Dane Strike, Desmond Gouws, George Van Blerk aka GVB. Local young guns Brian and Michael Stylianou with their Dad Chris who will be pealing the oranges.
It would be awesome if the locals from around Gauteng join in the fun and spend the weekend with us skating the parks.
